Did you know that 81% of Black girls attending majority-white schools say they sometimes wish their hair was straight? According to Dove’s CROWN Research Study for Girls, it’s a very real struggle—and one at the heart of our newest adventure.

In Young Grandmaster Choi 3: Under the Chuseok Moon, six-year-old Rayven grows tired of classmates attacking her Afro and makes a wish under the Chuseok moon for straight hair.

…But the ancestors have other plans.

What happens next transforms the very thing Rayven is insecure about into her greatest superpower. It’s Black Girl Magic…literally.

Since Young Grandmaster Choi first launched, more than 900 copies have been sold, the series won Best Children’s Graphic Novel at the 2026 Zelda Awards, and Rayven collector dolls have been added to the Korea Manhwa Museum and The Strong National Museum of Play. One even appeared in Keke Palmer’s Architectural Digest home tour this summer!

Now Rayven is back with Chapter 3—and her first-ever plush doll!

The book is finished. The plush prototype is finished. And on October 13, we’re launching on Kickstarter with one BIG goal:
