With the launch of Shero Games, this year has been a super busy year for the Shero brand, but it’s never too busy to stop and be honored for the work that we’re doing. And last weekend, that’s exactly what happened when our Shero CEO, Shequeta L. Smith, was honored by the Regional Black Chamber of Commerce – San Fernando Valley with the 2023 Distinguished Leadership of the Year Award.

The gala took place at the Loews Hotel in the heart of Hollywood, and the stars were definitely out. Ms. Freda Payne was presented with the Lifetime Living Legend Award, and several local Black businesses and military personnel were honored for their extraordinary work in the community.

Our Shero CEO was honored for her work with Shero Comics, Shero Games, Rayven Choi Films and SheroCon. She not only went home with a pretty impressive crystal trophy, but with multiple certificates of honor from the Mayor of Los Angeles – Karen Bass, Congressman Brad Sherman, the California State Controller – Malia M. Cohen, and special recognition from the Board of Public Works and the Ninth Council District of California.

It was definitely a night to remember for Shero, and a big inspiration to keep doing the work that we’re doing to make sure women and girls of color in comics, films, and gaming are represented in a positive and non-stereotypical way. Check out more flicks from the gala below.
